BY WAY OF INTRODUCTION:
Many people are reluctant to visit a church if they don’t know what to expect when they get there. We wish to help you know what to expect when you visit with us.
Our services are quietly devout, designed to draw worshippers closer to God and to enable each one to grow in knowledge and understanding of His Will.
Our desire and purpose is to be governed in all things by the New Testament of Jesus Christ, by the Word of God alone. Thus our worship consists only of those elements which God directed the early church to observe. We SING and PRAY, we eat the LORD’S SUPPER, we TEACH God’s Word, and we GIVE of our material means for the Lord’s cause. We wish to obey Christ’s words, and to have the attitude He enjoined when He said: "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:24).
We try to make every part of the worship as uplifting as possible.
We read in the New Testament that Christians are to sing in the worship (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16). Thus we encourage everyone to sing with their whole heart. We find no authority in the New Testament for the use of mechanical instruments of music in the worship of the church, and for this reason we do not use any. You will be amazed at how beautiful and inspiring singing can be when, unhindered by instrumental music, everyone sings praises to God with the whole heart.
At the close of the sermon an invitation is extended to encourage anyone who is outside of Christ to come and give self in obedience to the Gospel of Christ. In encouraging the alien sinner to obey the Gospel, we teach just what the Bible says one must do to be saved, to obtain God’s forgiveness of sins. Each one is encouraged to read for self what the Scriptures say: Hear the Gospel (Mark 16:15, 16; Romans 10:17; 1:16). Believe the Gospel (Mark 16:16; Hebrews 11:6). Repent of aIl sins (Luke 13:5; Acts 2:38; 17:30). Confess Christ as the Son of God (Matthew 10:32). Be Baptized for the remission of sins (Matt. 28:18·20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38; 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21; Romans 6:3-5; Gal. 3:26-27).
Having submitted in obedience to the terms of the Gospel, one in
that obedience puts on Christ (Galatians 3:26-27) and is "found in him" (Philippians 3:9). When one has thus "put on Christ" that one is then a CHRISTIAN -- A Christian only.
When we go back to the Bible, back before all the religious confusion of today, back before human creeds and traditions alienated and divided people, we learn that God’s children were called "CHRISTIANS" (Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16), with no denominational party name attached.
If a disciple has become unfaithful, having turned back to the world, thus directly disobeying God’s Will, the guilty one MUST: Repent of sins (Acts 8:22; Revelation 2:5; 2 Peter 3:9). Confess the sins (1 John 1:8-10, 2:2; James 5:16). Pray for God’s forgiveness (James 5:16; Acts 8:22).
Since the Holy Scripture is sufficient to instruct us as to our every spiritual need (2 Timothy 3:16-17), then when we simply teach and obey its precepts, we will be just what the early disciples were, live by the same rules and do the same things in worship and work that they did.
We invite everyone, regardless of your religious affiliation, to attend our assemblies. We want to get acquainted with you. We will try not to embarrass you in any way, but will treat you as a welcomed and respected guest.
We are undenominational and have no central headquarters or president. The head of the church is Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23).
Every true church of Christ is autonomous and functions separately from all other churches of Christ. It is the Word of God that unites us in One Faith (Ephesians 4:3-6). We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and his holy Apostles, and not the teachings of man. We are Christians only, with no human titles.
